Sujit Patel - analytical chemist / instrumentation scientist/engineer

Sujit has a rare combination skill set of being an analytical chemist and also is an instrumentation scientist/engineer. He has over 25 years experience in the field of analytical chromatography.

Such instrumentation is used to analyse pesticides, industrial toxicology, pharmaceutical formulations, testing of animal feeds along with a multitude of other applications. He has also formulated and developed medical products for the pharmaceutical industry.

He has worked alongside Agilent Technologies and has been a consultant for over 18 years. He aids laboratories with lab design, installation of equipment, validation of laboratory instrumentation including service and repairs.

He has excellent working knowledge of cGLP, cGMP and ISO requirements coupled with excellent IT knowledge of HBIB, LAN interfaces.

Sujit has worked  with EU, UNIDO, Trade Mark, PTB and GIZ on various projects and has been a panel consultant for tenders of laboratory equipment.

He offers laboratory support and training courses on various aspects of laboratory functions. Some of the countries he has aided include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bhutan, Burundi, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Kenya, Moldova, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Nick Willoughby - Fisheries

Nick is a senior manager of projects relating to the sustainability of aquatic resources, the environment and biodiversity. He has had over 40 years of experience working for a wide range of international donors in the planning, management and field operations of projects in tropical and temperate waters and wetlands. He has extensive experience of leading and co-ordinating international and national teams of development professionals, and in producing high quality reports on time. He has been particularly successful in recent years in turning around major projects at risk of failure under earlier management. He has undertaken long term residential work in Indonesia, Fiji, Malawi and Nigeria, and has worked for shorter periods in approximately 25 other countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, the Caribbean and Europe. His career has been initially as an independent consultant; then as the Fisheries and Coastal Zones Projects Manager for the Natural Resources Institute UK; and latterly as an independent consultant again.

Ian Watson

Ian Watson - Fisheries and Aquaculture Development

Ian Watson has over 30 years experience, overseas and UK, in aquaculture and fisheries development in both small and large-scale developments. He has been involved in the delivery of support services to aquaculture and fisheries: food safety (RSPH Level 3 HACCP), business training, marketing, product development, handling and distribution. He has provided support to institutional strengthening and policy development for government, mainly to Competent Authorities with a focus on fishery product food safety and the application of EU regulations for Third Countries, including dealing with EU IUU requirements. He also has extensive experience of the ornamental fish trade, focusing mainly on the role of ornamental fish collection in supporting livelihoods and ecolabelling of ornamental aquatics. Ian has experience of project identification, development and management, including post-project evaluation. He is involved in a range of research, currently centred on the ornamental fish trade but has previously worked on institutional development for research institutes and on molecular biological techniques for the detection of fish-borne trematodes.

Richard Chivers - Fishery Products Legislation and Food Safety SystemsRichard Chivers is a fishery scientist with wide experience of international fish products inspection standards; he has a full knowledge of EU fishery products legislation and has worked with numerous governments in the adaptation of their fish safety legislation to bring it up to the recognised standard for export to the EU. He is also very experienced in the practical application of food safety and quality management systems (e.g. BRC) and is a qualified trainer in both HACCP and food safety. He has worked throughout the UK developing the first national standards for the fishing industry and has acted as a trainer for a period of over 25 years, 12 of those in emerging economies.
