SEEDS, PLANTS and SOULS

bullet1 PREFACE

This document looks at how the plant kingdom
can give us an insight into God's kingdom.
So as to set the scene,
it starts with the Biblical account of creation,
 the origin of evil,
and God's plan to restore mankind.

The parables of Jesus are then considered to discover
what the soil, seeds, roots, shoots, and fruits can represent.

The internal workings of plants are then examined,
as well as the external activities of cultivators, grafters, and pickers.

This is followed by a look at the role of forests,
and the threats of deforestation, fire and weeds, d
rawing on Old as well as New Testament illustrations.

The document concludes
 - as does the natural life cycle -
with the seed again;
the spiritual and physical meaning of dormancy;
and a challenge:
 does the spiritual seed in us remain dormant and die,
or do we come spiritually alive and keep growing?

The text is interwoven with extracts from Scripture,
and is illustrated throughout (in the original) with line and water colour drawings.
These show the diversity of God's creation
and give an example of how things around us
can remind us of our purpose in being physically alive.
