Seven Vices

Besides the seven virtues,
the church traditionally teaches that there are seven vices or deadly sins.
If sin starts in the mind and develops from there (as explained in James),
then it is not surprising
that there is an imbalance in the thinking side of the personality map.
Envy, pride and avarice are all primarily sins of thought
- but of course don't end there.
Gluttony is active.
Sloth is passive.
Lust starts in looking.
And wrath is most often expressed in words.
