The Resource Centre on Urban Agriculture and Forestry (RUAF) programme
This magazine has many articles which relate to agroforestry, but in the urban setting.
The RUAF web site states: "In 1996 the international Support Group on Urban Agriculture (SGUA)
took the initiative to set up a Resource
Centre on Urban Agriculture and Forestry (RUAF), in response to the expressed need of organisations
and local governments in the South
for effective mechanisms for the documentation, exchange and discussion of research data and local experiences
on urban agriculture. The
main aim of RUAF is to facilitate the integration of urban agriculture in the policies and programmes
of national and local governments,
technical departments, research centres and NGO’s and to facilitate the formulation of projects on urban
agriculture with active involvement
of all local stakeholders".
