bullet2 A106 RELMA in ICRAF publications

Several resources on this site have been published by RELMA. The following is general information about all RELMA publications.

The Regional Land Management Unit (RELMA) has been integrated into the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) to strengthen ICRAF’s development agenda. RELMA in ICRAF will carry out development work within ICRAF’s East and Central Africa Region. The ultimate target group is the small-scale land users. The key clients are extension providers, educational institutions, decision makers, policy makers, and other institutions involved in land management and rural development. RELMA publishes various reports and educational material on topics relevant for small-scale land users. The publications are developed to be easily understood by the intended readership, usually extension agents and others working directly with farmers. The topics cover: Edible wild plants, Useful trees & shrubs, Agroforestry, Raising tree seedlings, Fruit & nut production, Water harvesting, and Land management.

Technical Handbooks are educational books on specific topics. Some are general and applicable for the whole of eastern Africa while others are developed for a specific climatic or geographic area. Some are larger reference books; others are field handbooks or small technical manuals. Technical Pamphlets are small field guides on specific topics, in a local language or easily read English. Only two have yet been published in this series and are here listed as field guides. Technical Reports present results from studies or experiences of successful projects. The reports are intended for planners and decision-makers at higher levels rather than field extension agents. Workshop Reports are proceedings or other documentation from conferences, seminars and workshops. Working Papers are produced when the text is of major interest to only a narrow readership or when the content is valuable but the presentation not adapted to RELMA's main audience. Sometimes a working paper may form the basis for a future technical handbook.
