Practices to improve Amerindian Farming

René van Dongen 1994. Drawings by Ian McGill. In English. Published by Capoey Women's Agricultural Group, Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, Guyana, with assistance from Futures Fund. A4 booklet. 42pp

Agricultural extension workers know how to tackle problems on the clayey soils of the fertile coastal strip of Guyana. However, the techniques do not necessarily apply to the sandy, loamy soils of the interior, where dense tropical rainforest exists. This book has been developed to help identify practices that are suitable for these areas. It has been written for, and in collaboration with, Amerindian farmers in general and two Agricultural Women's Groups in particular. Well written and illustrated, making it a good model for farmers in similar situations.
