bullet2 A008 Manual Arboles de Centroamerica

Jose Cordero Salvado and David Boshier (Editors) 2004. DFID Forestry Research Program (FRP) Project R7588. Printed book 600pp, CD-rom, and website. Spanish

This is an excellent example of forestry / agroforestry extension resources designed to enable extension workers prepare their own material  for farmers working in all agroecological zones in Central America. It is based on several decades of work in the field in the region, and is applicable to other similar Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, and could be of value elsewhere in the world. There is a printed manual, but the CD-ROM is most readily available, containing all the text and a large database of many hundreds of illustrations which can be cut and pasted as required (with limited copyright restrictions). All electronic material is available from a website, which will serve as a means to update material, and allow users to keep in contact with one another. There are databases, searchable in electronic format, on common names, synonyms, selection of species, and illustrations.
