Manuals for Women Farmers in West Africa

Rose Clarkson, 2003. Revised edition. Institute of Ecology and Resource Management, Scotland, U.K. Folder holding 9 A4 booklets (approx. 10pp each) and CD. Funded by EU and DFID. English.

A unique resource which describes a participatory methodology for producing illustrated training manuals for non-literate people in developing countries, originally for West Africa. Nine examples of the manuals are provided (see below for topics). Once the illustrations have been designed and drawn by an artist in collaboration with the end-user, they are scanned, inserted into Powerpoint slides, formatted, and printed out.  A CD is included which contains the slides and graphics, and allows the extension worker to produce tailor-made manuals from the existing graphics.
